          Our Philosophy

 

 

 

Our philosophy at Heartland is that every human being deserves to be treated with the same dignity, love and respect that we ourselves would like to be treated with; and this has everything to do with how we conduct learning.  In order for learning, growth or healing to occur as a meaningful and lasting experience they must be administered in a manner in which participants feel safe to trust and take risks. Our programs are designed to employ the power of love to help individuals find the courage to pursue hope, which in turn anchors the soul to succeed. It is here we find new strength and creativity to access and conquer heights previously unattainable to us. There is no fear in Love; the more love you realize, the more you attract.

 

The world we live in is a busy place these days, and it is often hard to find time to reflect on the simple gifts which we believe so powerfully support learning. We believe love matters greatly in the learning process, because love quiets the mind to receive a broader definition of knowledge. Love is the overflow of a heart at peace, and peace is the overflow of a heart of love; and this provides a stress-free learning environment in which growth occurs more naturally.

 

In all of this, we endeavor to lead by example. We never ask our friends to do anything we ourselves are not willing to do. There are no ‘sneak attacks’ on a person’s boundaries or dignity. All experientials are done by choice: you participate at the level you feel is most comfortable for you. Heartland is a place where trust is sacred and confidentiality is upheld; where others are treated as we ourselves would like; where the simple rule of “love thy neighbor as thyself” is standard operating procedure.

 

Our goal is to create an environment where trust, growth and healing may not only exist, but thrive; and love is the best climate to accomplish that in- because love never fails.  People may fail and dreams may fail, but love does not. Instead, it honors, respects and considers other peoples’ feelings (empathy) in a way that triumphs over past experiences which hinder love’s growth. The power of love is infinite, it has no lack; it’s our understanding of it that limits it.

 

Ultimately, we seek to model the simple love of a young child, a child who trusts without fear or reservation from a pure heart; one who is ignorant of man’s propensity to mismanage love’s power and beauty.  We can only learn to love by loving, and if love is given freely and generously with no concern for what it will get back, it becomes like a seed planted in rich soil which develops a healthy root system and yields an abundant harvest. The generosity of love, combined with the wisdom of emotional intelligence,  sets the course for true success. It is our hope to inspire many to live and to lead in its practice.
